A Witness Ignited

After completing another grueling shift, Long Beach firefighter Jeremy Thomas Coleman planned to end the day quietly. A stop at a local convenience store for snacks unexpectedly altered his life. Inside the store, he became an accidental witness to a violent crime. David Hagan, an Aryan Brotherhood leader, confronted the store owner, accusing him of refusing to sell the store—a key location Hagan intended to use for illicit operations. When the owner mentioned paying protection to the Eastside Crips, Hagan executed the owner’s son and then the owner himself.

Jeremy narrowly avoided being killed, escaping with a gunshot wound to his arm. The brutal double homicide immediately triggered an investigation led by veteran detective Mike Cella, who had a long-standing grudge against Hagan. Years earlier, Cella’s partner was killed while pursuing Hagan in a separate case. Now, Cella saw Jeremy as the key to finally putting the crime boss behind bars.

Forced into Hiding

Hagan was quickly apprehended and placed in a lineup. Despite the mirrored glass, Hagan correctly deduced Jeremy’s identity, chillingly reciting his name, address, and Social Security number aloud. The threat was unmistakable.

Recognizing the immediate danger, authorities placed Jeremy in the Witness Protection Program. He assumed the name Jeremy Douglas and relocated to New Orleans, leaving behind his identity, career, and everything familiar. Struggling to adjust, he formed a close bond with Deputy U.S. Marshal Talia Durham, the federal agent assigned to his case. Though the wounds of his former life remained fresh, a relationship blossomed.

A Vow for Vengeance

Their safety was shattered when two of Hagan’s hitmen found them. An ambush left Talia wounded and Jeremy forced to defend them both. He killed one attacker while the other escaped. Shortly afterward, Hagan phoned Jeremy personally, promising to kill everyone he loved regardless of the trial’s outcome. Jeremy, realizing the protection program could no longer shield him or those he cared about, made a grim decision. He vowed to eliminate Hagan before the criminal could act.

In the days that followed, Jeremy learned Hagan’s lawyer, Harold Gethers, had negotiated his release on bail. The looming trial no longer offered any sense of justice—Jeremy would have to take matters into his own hands.

A Return to the Fire

Jeremy quietly returned to Long Beach. To acquire an untraceable weapon, he approached members of the Eastside Crips—the same gang once mentioned by the murdered store owner. With a gun in hand and nothing to lose, Jeremy began a campaign against Hagan’s criminal operation. He staked out one of Hagan’s known hideouts and executed three of his men.

His actions drew attention. At the same time, Jeremy’s old friend from the firehouse was targeted by Hagan and beaten nearly to death with a baseball bat. A partial fingerprint linked to the scene was traced to a protected witness, but due to Jeremy’s WITSEC status, police could not identify him.

Detective Cella, increasingly suspicious, deduced Jeremy’s involvement. Though conflicted by his duty, his hatred for Hagan made him unwilling to intervene.

Closing in on the Target

Jeremy continued his assault. He found one of Hagan’s hideouts and tortured a gang member for information, eventually learning of Harold Gethers’ involvement. Gethers, motivated more by fear than loyalty, provided Jeremy with Hagan’s next location—a condemned building scheduled for a nighttime meeting.

Meanwhile, Talia tracked Jeremy to Long Beach. She attempted to dissuade him from his plan, but Jeremy remained resolute. Locking her in a bathroom to keep her safe, he departed for the confrontation.

Moments later, Hagan’s men broke in and kidnapped Talia.

The Final Inferno

That night, Jeremy arrived at the abandoned building. Using his firefighting knowledge, he initiated a calculated blaze. Fire consumed the structure as Jeremy eliminated Hagan’s men inside. Discovering Talia was being held in the same location, he donned his fireman’s gear and entered the inferno to rescue her.

Inside, Talia had freed herself. She fought back and fatally shot one of Hagan’s enforcers. Jeremy encountered Hagan in the burning building. A final struggle unfolded before Talia killed Hagan with a decisive gunshot. Jeremy carried her from the flames as the building collapsed behind them.

Aftermath and Closure

The following day, Cella met with the district attorney. No evidence remained from the fire that could tie anyone to Hagan’s death. Cella, privately satisfied with the outcome, closed the case. Alone in his office, he quietly put away a photo of his late partner—his own sense of justice finally fulfilled.
