Rise in Harlem: The Silent Empire

In the turbulent 1960s, three men—Earl, Rocco, and Carlito—operated from within the confines of a New York prison. Despite incarceration, their influence extended well beyond the prison walls. From inside, a sophisticated network of crime was maintained. But the vision was always bigger. Their true goal awaited them on the outside: dominance in Harlem’s fiercely contested drug market.

Once released, their path led them directly into a volatile landscape. Harlem’s heroin trade was already fractured by rival factions—the entrenched Italian Bottolotta crime family and the rising group led by the formidable Hollywood Nicky. Earl and Carlito were introduced to Artie Bottolotta through Rocco. Artie, the family’s patriarch, initially resisted the idea of partnering with non-Italians. Yet, acknowledging their reach and potential, he agreed to a distribution arrangement. A foothold was established.

It was also during these meetings that Artie Jr., Artie’s son and heir apparent, made his presence known. Known for his explosive temperament and deep-seated racism, Artie Jr. viewed the newcomers with suspicion. Nevertheless, business moved forward, though tensions quietly brewed beneath the surface.

A Family Divided

The operation gained momentum, but its stability was soon threatened by Reggie, Earl’s younger brother. Reggie’s presence brought volatility. Immature and impatient, he lacked the discipline required for their work. His reckless decisions strained their agreement with the Bottolottas.

A confrontation erupted when Artie Jr., after one such offense, cornered Reggie with a straight razor in hand. Carlito, held back, watched helplessly as violence loomed. But Rocco arrived in time, calming the situation with a promise: Reggie would be dealt with internally. Though bloodshed was avoided, trust had been damaged.

Amid this chaos, Carlito found an unexpected connection. He met Leticia, a woman whose brother, Sigfredo, distrusted him on sight. Sigfredo, protective and perceptive, saw through Carlito’s charm. A tense standoff followed. Eventually, Carlito earned his respect, but acceptance remained elusive. Sigfredo chose distance rather than full endorsement.

Betrayal and Retaliation

Reggie’s instability reached its peak when he orchestrated a kidnapping. With two accomplices, he abducted Artie Jr. outside his home, holding him for ransom. Once the payment was secured, Artie Jr. was released, only to be taken into police custody.

Artie Sr., humiliated and furious, suspected Carlito, Earl, and Rocco of betrayal. Despite their innocence, a bounty was placed on their heads. Retribution was to be handled by Nacho Reyes, a feared hitman loyal to the Bottolotta family. The streets of Harlem braced for blood.

Carlito and Colorado, a trusted enforcer, acted swiftly. Tracing Reggie’s location before Nacho could strike, they joined Earl in confronting him. At a worn-down apartment, the final reckoning unfolded. Tension filled the air. Nacho and Carlito faced Reggie at gunpoint. Refusing remorse, Reggie remained defiant. The standoff ended in gunfire. Reggie fell, silencing the chaos he had caused. Nacho, having completed his task unofficially, walked away without further conflict.

Seizing the Crown

With Reggie gone, the trio’s focus returned to business. Under the Bottolotta name, their heroin enterprise thrived. But subservience was never the plan. Carlito and Earl devised a bold move. They bribed corrupt Harlem police officers and orchestrated a raid against the Bottolotta stronghold. The assault was swift and decisive. The family’s power was dismantled, its leaders eliminated.

From the ashes of their former partners, a new power emerged. Carlito, Earl, and Rocco claimed Harlem’s underworld for themselves. The streets now answered to them.

The Illusion of Escape

With their dominance unquestioned, a shift in priorities occurred. Earl, seeking peace, planned a wedding on a distant island. Carlito and Rocco joined him. For a moment, the trio distanced themselves from the life they had built. Carlito, reunited with Leticia, began to reflect. A different life seemed possible. One without blood, one with love.
