The Rebellion Reignited

Three years after the harrowing events on the abandoned island, the survivors of the original Battle Royale program have regrouped. Led by Shuya Nanahara and Makio Mimura, they form a militant resistance group known as the Wild Seven. With a new resolve, they launch an attack on the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, killing several American soldiers in the process. Explosives planted throughout the structure detonate in a coordinated strike. The Wild Seven’s public declaration of war against the adult establishment sends shockwaves across the nation. In the chaos, Riki Takeuchi, a former educator, watches the devastation unfold beside his young daughter. The trauma leaves her expressionless. Moments later, she is lost to the violence.

A Government Response: Battle Royale II

The Japanese government, seeking to justify its authority, enacts the New Century Special Anti-Terrorism Act. Under the guise of national security, the act reactivates the Battle Royale program. This time, the objective is not for students to kill one another, but to hunt down and eliminate the Wild Seven. A class of junior high delinquents from Shikanotoride School, many of whom are orphans of the Wild Seven’s attacks, are selected. Among them are Shiori Kitano, daughter of the former program’s instructor, and Aoi Takuma, a quiet yet defiant student.

Deception and Deployment

At Christmastime, 42 students of Class 3-B are deceived into boarding a bus under the pretense of a field trip. Instead, they are taken to a military base, where Riki, now a government enforcer, outlines the deadly rules. Each student is paired with a partner, and both are fitted with explosive collars. If one dies, the other perishes instantly. Non-compliance is fatal. One student, Shintaro Makimura (Boy #15), resists and is executed on the spot. When his partner, Kazumi Fukuda (Girl #15), hears this, her collar detonates. Panic sets in immediately.

First Contact and Casualties

Transported by boat to the isolated Battleship Island, the students are ambushed before they even reach the shore. The Wild Seven, unaware of the students’ identities, open fire. A sniper’s bullet claims the life of Yosuke Miyadai (Boy #17), and chaos erupts. Explosions ripple across the boat, killing Tatsuro Morishima, Ayane Yagi, Ai Yazawa, Hibiki Yano, Kana Yuki, and Eri Yoshiyama. As students attempt to aid the injured, more detonations occur due to proximity violations and collar triggers, resulting in a further bloodbath.

The Island Becomes a Grave

Once ashore, students continue to fall. Tetsuya Shimura (Boy #7) dies in a minefield, uttering a final plea for vengeance. Sanae Shioda (Girl #7) attempts escape, only to trigger a collar explosion. Students trying to flee or resist continue to perish, often in grisly, unintended ways. Shugo Urabe (Boy #2) is gunned down by a sniper, and Miki Ikeda (Girl #2) dies when her collar explodes in a restricted zone.

Mission Two: Escalation

Inside the fortress, injuries mount. Shota Hikasa shares a cigarette with Haruka Kuze as tension grows. A mine, triggered by the body of a fallen student, causes a chain reaction. Several more fall: Masakatsu Taguchi, Rena Niimi, Tatsuhiko Hasegawa, Kenji Maezono, Ryoko Hata, and Honami Totsuka all perish in rapid succession.

Clash of Conviction

Takuma Aoi’s group infiltrates deeper into Wild Seven territory. Misunderstandings result in more student deaths. Nozomi Sagisawa (Girl #6) is mistakenly shot by Takuma. The Wild Seven plead with the students to disarm, explaining their motives, but the trauma is too deep. Ryo Kurosawa, who lost his family to terrorism, lashes out and is killed. Others—Naoki Jo, Jun Nanami, Shota Hikasa, Yasuaki Hosaka, and Maho Nosaka—are also slain during the shootout.

Temporary Ceasefire

With only 12 students left, Shuya attempts to disable the collars using an EMP. While most are saved, Yuko Natsukawa (Girl #10) dies in the process. The program is abruptly shut down. The Wild Seven remove the remaining collars, offering the survivors a chance to join their cause. Some, like Takuma and Shiori, remain skeptical. Kuze Haruka is mortally wounded in an airstrike ordered by the U.S., and Takuma grieves as he burns her remains.

The Final Assault

The military attacks again. Masami Shibaki (Boy #6) dies during a retreat, and Osamu Kasai (Boy #3) sacrifices himself with a rocket launcher. As the island burns under U.S. bombardment, only Shuya, Takuma, and Shiori remain. In a final confrontation, Shiori is fatally shot. Before dying in Shuya’s arms, she forgives him, revealing she is the daughter of the infamous Kitano.

The Aftermath

The U.S. strikes level the island. Shuya and Takuma flee through a mine shaft. The New Century Special Anti-Terrorism Act is disbanded. Weeks later, in Afghanistan, the surviving students, including Nao and Noriko Nakagawa, reunite. Though scarred, they find solace in their friendships, unsure of what lies ahead but grateful to have endured.

Final Count

Of the 42 students, only a handful survived. Their trauma, and their rebellion, mark a turning point in the nation’s conscience. Whether as fugitives or revolutionaries, they walk forward—together.
